We are finally done with our project. On Monday we did our presentation in the dorm and I think that went over very well. We had about ten or fifteen people show up which was fairly good. Most of the people there we our friends so sometimes they weren’t always on their best behavior. When things did get settled down the presentation was really good and some of the guys even had questions. I think we did a good job explaining everything to them even the things that weren’t in the power point.
Now that it is all over I’m really glad that I did the project. When we first decided to do a project on common dorm sicknesses I didn’t think I would learn very much because again these things are quite common and people just know about them. But, there were some very interesting things about some of these sicknesses that we found we quite interesting. Some of the troubles we ran into while working on this project was just time to work together. We all had very different schedules and personal lives that sometimes made it hard for us to communicate with each other outside of class. We got over these obstacles very well and we put together a great project.
Looking back on what we did I think that we probably should have done more sicknesses. The ones we did were great and worked really well for our concept but there were a few others that we could have done that would have made it better. I also found the teaching aspect to be quite difficult. It can be challenging to get eighteen and nineteen year old guys to always stay on track and focused. Now I can see what some teachers may have to go through and I can say it can be a little frustrating.
Although teaching was difficult at times it was a great experience. It taught me that even though when I’m in class there are things that we do that don’t seem so bad really do annoy teachers. This I’m hoping will help me develop into a better student. I really enjoyed working with my group. We got a lot accomplished and we worked well together. Overall I had lots of fun working on this project and I got a lot more out of it than I ever thought. It was a fun and interesting experience for me and I enjoyed it a lot more than I ever thought I would.

Where Debot Goes #2
Our project on “Where Debot Goes” is coming along. Right now we are in the information gathering stages. I found an extremely helpful website that tells all about the human digestive system, all the parts, a detailed description of all of the parts and the problems that can go wrong with each part or problems patients have had. We are planning on for sure having a few informational posters to show the digestive system and maybe we will make a model to show a more 3-D view. We also plan on getting a hold of someone in the HEC so we can put our project on display. Soon we are going to get together to combine all of the information that we have found and then we will start working on the posters and the potential model. I really think I will learn a lot about some of the problems that you hear people have with their digestive system and overall it will be a good experience.
Dorm Sickness
Dorm sicknesses
Reasearch on our common dorm sicknesses is going ahead as planed. We have been able to narrow our search down to the more common sicknesses. There is alot of information and it is a little overwellming but we are making go progress. We have already started and are close to finishing our bathroom pamphlets but we are trying to think of ways to make the pamphlets alittle more exciting so people want to read them. One of the challenges that we have run across so far is trying to put the information we have collected into laymens terms so that people will understand the material. We are thinking of ways to make it a little more appealing to the eye aswell, which might include some pictures here and there. Other than a few bumps in the road everything is going well.

Dorm Sickness
For my service learning project, I am teaming up with Chris, Eric, and I now believe Kyle. We are going to help inform people living in the dorms of common infections students and fellow peers can’t contract while living in close contact in a dorm. We are looking to enhance the knowledge and understanding of not only other people, but ourselves as well. We want to inform people of the symptoms that go hand in hand with many of the sicknesses so people can quickly recognize influenza, or mono, or in worst case scenarios possibly STD’s. We look to achieve this by first doing some research and then making posters which we will post on doors and walls or dorms. We also look to put up bulletins in the stalls of the bathroom because if you’re taking care of business reading our bulletin is inevitable. I hope to learn more about sicknesses through this project and at the same time, better other people as well.
Where Debot Goes
For my service learning project I am working with Tyler Gagner and Ian Armstrong on “Where Debot Goes.” We are making a model of a human digestive system and then we are going to have a display set up in the HEC to tell about it. I am working on this project because most people don’t know what happens after they eat or even what they need to eat in order to feel better about themselves. I would plan on showing our display that we made to people in the HEC when they are going to and from lunch at Debot mostly. We would have some type of food/drink to give out to get people’s attention. I know that I will learn more about a human’s digestive system in this project and also hope to show other people on campus a little about the human digestive system too.
